Brazilian music is known for it’s use of distinct and exotic percussion. bossa nova is no different and Milton Banana is arguably the greatest contributor to the drumming style so closely associated with this genre of music.

An early interest in music, specifically percussion, lead to an adult career as a percussionist for several bands and solo acts in the night clubs and bars of brazil. He formed his own band and released solo works but it his collaborative work with bossa nova greats such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Gilbero, Johnny Alf, Sergio Mendes, Baden Powell and more.

Most notably he performed on Chega de saudade and performed on the ground-breaking Getz/Gilberto album as the leading percussionist.
