A show dedicated to bossa nova singer, Nara Leao, was to take place this October but that prospect now seems very unlikely. The show which would commemorate 70 years since her birth, has had to be postponed due to a lack of sponsorship. This would seem surprising for a singer touted as the “muse” of bossa nova.
According to Rafeal Cortez, who is responsible for organizing the show, cooperate businesses liked the idea but did not feel it practical as this year has already seen them exhaust their expenditure on sponsoring events.
“My idea is to make the show in June of next year, the month when we saw the death of Nara, 24 years ago.”
